Welcome to another Annual Open enrollment Period (AEP)!
The Annual Election Period (AEP) begins October 15th and runs through December 7th, 2024. During this period, you are allowed to enroll in or change to a new Medicare Prescription Drug Plan for the 2025 plan year.
2025 Part D Plan Facts & Figures
- Next year there will be five fewer plans available (18). One carrier, Mutual of Omaha, is leaving the market and another has been sanctioned by CMS with plans currently unavailable (Clear Spring Health).
- The average monthly prescription drug plan premium in CA will increase 16% (from $81.38 to $94.31)
- Six plans will see premium decreases and eleven will see increases.
- The standard deductible will increase from $545 to $590. (Plans can choose to have a lower deductible)
- CIGNA Healthcare will offer the lowest premium plan at $1.80 per month (Cigna Assurance Plan).
- The Coverage Gap or “donut hole” will be eliminated next year and your total out-of-pocket will be capped at $2,000.
- A new Medicare Prescription Payment Plan offers the option to pay out-of-pocket costs in monthly installments, rather than all at once. Your drug plan will share more about this.
- Medicare Part D plans will cover many vaccines at 100% including RSV and Shingles (no copay or deductible). Note! Medicare Part B covers flu and COVID shots. For a complete list of Covered Vaccines
- Financial Assistance called Extra Help is available to those who qualify and can help pay premiums, deductible and copays related to Medicare drug coverage.
